Privacy notice

ScoutDesk is a Rīga rental-verification service run by an independent trader registered in Latvia (EU), the data controller for what you give us. Privacy questions: privacy@scoutdesk.lv.

What we hold and why

To deliver your check we use your name and email, the listing details and questions you send, payment metadata from Stripe (we never see your card number), and the photos, video and notes the scout collects. The legal basis is performing our contract with you; we keep payment records to meet tax law. We don't profile you, sell your data, or run ads against it.

Who sees it, and for how long

Only you, the ScoutDesk admin, the assigned scout (just what they need, never your payment details), Stripe, and our EU-region storage. Stripe may process payment data in the US under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. If you don't go ahead we delete or anonymise your request within 90 days; a delivered report and its evidence are kept up to 12 months, then deleted or anonymised; payment records as long as tax law requires. Evidence is shared only through a secure, expiring link, never a public address.

Your rights and cookies

You can ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, or stop processing your data, and withdraw any consent, at privacy@scoutdesk.lv (we act within a month). You can complain to the Latvian authority, Datu valsts inspekcija (dvi.gov.lv). We use only essential cookies, and no advertising or tracking cookies. We measure visits with cookieless, server-side analytics (our host, Netlify) — no cross-site tracking and no profiling.

Terms

What it is

A local, observational check of a rental: a vetted local visits the address, photographs and films what is there, asks your agreed questions where possible, and we send a report with a clear proceed / ask for more / walk away recommendation. The Full dossier adds a condition checklist and an open-source check on the listing. It is not legal advice, a valuation, a structural or title inspection, or any guarantee; we report what we observe.

Price and payment

Standard €75, Full dossier €99. You pay by card via Stripe after we confirm we can take the job.

Cancellation and refunds

As a distance service you have 14 days to cancel. By asking us to start within that time you accept that once the report is delivered the service is complete and the 14-day right no longer applies. Full refund before we start; a proportionate refund if you cancel mid-way; and a full refund if we cannot make a reasonable attempt or deliver (for example, the flat is taken first). There is no refund simply because the result is unwelcome: a "walk away" is still a check that did its job. To cancel, email info@scoutdesk.lv.

Liability and law

To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the fee you paid; the report is evidence to inform your decision, and we are not responsible for the landlord's conduct or for losses from acting on it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. These terms are governed by the laws of Latvia, the courts of Rīga have jurisdiction, and your mandatory consumer protections are unaffected.
